Powerpoint Skills: Create black silhouette images

I love the look of black silhouetted images in presentations.  The images show people, and your audience are not distracted by the faces.  In other words, people in your audience that you are trying to impress are not thinking…wow, look at the babe in that picture, she’s really hot, wonder what she’s like…

I would also prefer the people in my professional sales presentations to stay in the room mentally.  So in this tutorial I show you how to take normal color images you can find on Google images and turn them into silhouetted images.

There’s also the issue of copyright.  You need to be sure all images you use are your own originals or properly licensed which can be a pain.  By taking images you find and altering them so they are unrecognizable - you avoid copyright issues and can use them.  At least that’s my understanding - seek your own legal advice if you’re unsure.

Here’s a sample of what this powerpoint skills tutorial is about.

The top image is an original copyrighted image to illustrate the effect we are trying to achieve.

Notice the globe is shaded.  It fades from white at the bottom to full black and white at the top.

The people are in various poses and have a shadow which locks them to the imaginary floor.

The bottom image is one we create in the video from normal color images.

Our globe had a stand and we have faded it out of the image.  We created the black people images from color photo’s we found on Google Images.

The powerpoint skills you learn here can be applied to a number of other graphics images you work with in the future.

This free powerpoint tutorial runs about 9 minutes in total.  One note to improve on the tutorial video.  In the video we add shadows to the figures we create but you can improve on this effect by using reflections instead of shadows.

So without further ado - here’s your free powerpoint tutorial…

As usual, we look forward to your feedback.
